Local authority support for economic development
In promoting the economic development of their areas, local authorities have to comply with the UK framework on Subsidy Control. In collaboration with the Scottish Government Subsidy Control Unit. SLAED has developed a number of schemes which are available for all Scottish local authorities to use. The schemes cover:
a) training and employment of disadvantaged/disabled workers
b) regional/SME investment and employment
c) development and growth of SMEs

e) contaminated land
f) research and innovation clusters
g) natural disasters

EU State aid rules will however still apply where the activity is supported by EU funds.
