Aims of the employability group are to share best practice and to encourage local authorities to work more closely with local and national partners – such as Job Centre Plus.

There is a clear benefit in supporting local economic regeneration through tackling joblessness.

We pursue clear strategies towards tackling unemployment, for instance, information giving, training provision, job creation and channeling funding from other agencies or internal co-ordinated funding. The new strategies have also involved changes in management techniques and liaison within local authorities themselves.
