Our aim is to encourage and support the creation, development and growth of businesses within each of the local authority areas which will in turn be able to contribute to, and strengthen, their local economy in terms of jobs, growth and wealth.

Local authorities follow a pro-business agenda, which seeks to remove the constraints to economic business growth.  Local authorities should be fully geared to supporting investment and development by offering grants and business advice.

We encourage the creation and growth of small businesses which can contribute to the local economy in terms of employment and income.  We also offer companies advice on how to adopt e-business strategies and introduce innovative management techniques which will enable the businesses to raise their level of competitiveness and sustainability.

The councils work in partnership with Business Gateway, West of Scotland Loan Fund and Scottish Enterprise to meet the needs of business.
